Obituary

JAMES EDWARD "J.E." SISK, Age 88, a resident of Charleston, died Saturday, December 7, 2013 at the Charleston Manor.

Born July 17, 1925, at East Prairie, MO, to the late Jesse James and Martha Jane Cooper Sisk, he had lived in Mississippi County his entire life where he had been a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and youth leader. He later joined the First Baptist Church of Charleston where he served as a Deacon. He had been self-employed as a brick mason and later the caretaker at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston until ill health forced his retirement. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II.

On June 19, 1949, he married Marjory Hutson, who survives of the home.

Other survivors include one son, James David "Jimmy" Sisk of Charleston and one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Alan Hogan of Fredericktown, MO; one brother, Jerry Sisk of Tucson, AZ; five grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Also surviving is two brothers –in-law, Paul Hutson and Ed Hutson and three sisters-in-law, Mickey Crosier Sisk, Jane Sindle Sisk and Carolyn Hutson.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Freeman Sisk and Charlie Sisk and by four sisters, Clara Hornback, Maxine Merrick, Carrie Hornback and Geraldean Ashby.

Visitation will be from 3:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 11, 2013. The Rev. Ted Wimberley, pastor of the New Bethel Baptist Church, will officiate.

Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Tim Layton, Glennon Johnson, Larry Gier, Beachie Ray Dean, Johney Shoffner, Dale Glenn and Ronnie White.
