Obituary

Wilma Jean Bartlett, Age 70, passed away October 15, 2015, at her home near Scott City, MO.

She was born in Oak Ridge, TN on February 3, 1945 to the late Bly V. and Penny Boitnott Belk. She graduated from Charleston High School in 1963 and the Office Training School in Cape Girardeau in 1964. She worked at Southeast Missouri Hospital in the accounting department until her marriage to Kenneth Bartlett on August 20, 1967 at New Bethel Baptist Church in rural Charleston. They then moved to St. Charles, Missouri, but returned to southeast Missouri in 1973. Her final residence was near Commerce, MO. She worked as the Charleston Baptist Association secretary from April 1982 until April 2005. From 1999-2005 she served as the area coordinator for Operation Christmas Child. Filling Christmas boxes and encouraging others to do so became a favorite hobby of hers as well as a ministry to needy children around the world. She was a member of Unity Baptist Church, Benton, MO where she served as church clerk.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth, one daughter Angela (Tim) Mooney of Edmond, OK and one son, Paul (Amy) Bartlett of Blodgett, MO as well as grandson, Ethan Mooney, and granddaughters, Mollie and Lillie Bartlett. Also surviving are one sister, Faye Moxley of rural Charleston, MO and three brothers, Bill Belk of Winston, OR, Jim Belk of East Prairie, MO and David Belk of Diehlstadt, MO.

In addition to her parents, two brothers, Sonny Burcks of rural Charleston and Donald Burcks of Eldon, MO, preceded her in death.

Visitation will be Monday, October 19, 2015 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, MO with the funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. Dennis Lowe, pastor of Unity Baptist Church, officiating.

Interment will take place at the Oakdale Cemetery near Commerce, MO.
