Obituary

Alma "Jean" Harris, 71, a life-long resident of this area, died at her home in Sikeston, Friday Sept. 22, 2017.  She was born in Sikeston Jan. 18, 1946 to the late T.L. and Lillie (Whittmore) Coatney.  She was a Sunday School  teacher and member of Temple of Faith Church in Sikeston, had worked at the Cream Castle for 10 years and later at National Lock for 22 years.  She was married to Billy Ray Harris Dec. 30, 1977 in Grey Ridge and he preceded her in death Aug. 18, 2007.  She is survived by 1 son, Tim (Amber) Harris of Sikeston and was a very devoted grandmother to Ethan Harris.  Also surviving are 2 sisters, Ruth & Bo Ozment of Sikeston and Carol Bishop of Morehouse; 3 nephews, 4 nieces, 2 great nephews and 1 great niece.  In addition to her husband and parents she was also preceded in death by 1 brother, Larry Coatney and 1 sister, Janet Casey.  Graveside services will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, Sept. 26 at Garden of Memories Cemetery, with her pastor, Rev. Alan Rhyne officiating.  Pallbearers will be Tim Harris, Josh Casey, Wes Westmoreland, Travis Ozment, Tom Coatney and Carl Casey.  Online condolences may be shared with the family at blanchardfuneral.com.
