JEAN TOLBERT STAYTON, age 87, of Morley, MO, died Sunday, May 9, 2021, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born January 5, 1934, at Sikeston, MO, to the late Rev. Kelly Tolbert and Bertha King Tolbert, she had lived in the Sikeston area most of her life.   She was an accomplished pianist, having played for several gospel groups since she was 15 years old.  She was a great mother figure to her brothers and sisters.  She and her sisters sang together many years as "The Tolbert Sisters."

She was married to Thad Stayton who preceded her in death in 2004.

Surviving is her brother, John (Sandy) Tolbert of Advance; her sisters, Lillian Tolbert of Morley and Mary (Howard) Banks of Sikeston, also several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Daniel Tolbert and Paul Tolbert and her sister, Grace Tolbert McCann.

Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 13, 2021, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Sikeston.  John Tolbert, her brother, will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery at Sikeston under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home of Sikeston.
