IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jeanne R.
Ferrell Elliott
September 4, 1925 – October 2, 2024
Imogene "Jeanne" Ferrell Elliott, 99, of Louisville, KY, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at her home, in the loving care of her sons, Ferrell and Lee Elliott.
Jeanne was born September 4, 1925, in Bertrand, Missouri, the daughter of the late Ercy Earl Ferrell and Mary Velda Alley Ferrell. A 1943 graduate of Charleston High School, she married the love of her life, James Harold Elliott, on December 26, 1952. They spent 48 wonderful years together until the time of his death on January 20, 2001.
Her gift was an extraordinary sense of fashion that led her to a highly successful and distinguished career in the women's retail clothing market. She launched a line of scale ready-to-wear and accessories in 1956 with the opening of the Jeanne Elliott Shop, located on Broadway Street in Mayfield, KY. She would continue to serve the region with the opening of additional locations in Paducah, KY and Martin, TN.
Throughout her life, Jeanne remained ever the picture of grace, beauty, dignity, civility and wisdom, in a world so much in need of it. Above all things, she was known for her love and dedication to her parents, siblings and her family. As the last surviving child of ten children, she kept the memories alive of those who had gone on before. She became the matriarch of the Ferrell family and was truly the family treasure.
Survivors include her beloved sons, J. Ferrell Elliott and David Leo Elliott of Louisville, KY; sisters in law, Melba Ferrell of Benton, MO; Beverly Ferrell of Wahepton, N.D. and Marilyn Ferrell of Sikeston, MO;
