Ruby Jean Owens, age 70, of Charleston, affectionately known as "Jeany", passed from this life into her Eternal reward, Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Jeany was born September 26, 1951, at Journey, Arkansas, to the late Edgar Owens and Katherine Clemons Owens. She had lived in Charleston most of her life where she attended the Lincoln School from which she graduated. She enjoyed running track while in school. She was a member of St. Matthews Missionary Baptist Church of Charleston.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, James "Jimmy" Cleaves. Jeany had nine brothers and sisters, one who has preceded her in death, her sister, Dorothy Ewing. Jeany is survived by brothers, Lillie (Larry) Smith, Essie McCatrey, Timothy Owens, Barbra (Michael) Parker, Julius Owens, and Carolyn (Bradford) Garland all of Charleston; Cora (Jerry) Johnson of Haywood, MO; Percy (Teresa) Owens of Bertrand; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and their families that she loved dearly. However, she was favored by her two great nephews, Amiel Wee and Marshall Reed, III.
Jeany was so loved and loving. She greeted everyone with a smile, a hug, and an "I Love You!" She was very compassionate and thoughtful. She enjoyed walking and sitting outside on the porch. She loved kids.
She is dearly loved by her extended family, the Cleaves, and her niece, Santheresa (Cindy) Cleaves- Brown.
She leaves to cherish three daughters and one son in law, Christal Ewing, Janis Owens, and Porsha (Adrian) Anderson all of Charleston. She was also left to cherish 13 grandchildren, Eneikqua Ewing, Tenerrions Ewing, Suave Fitzpatrick, La'Zarreonna Fitzpatrick, De'Shaundrius Atchison, Ko'terrion Owens, Mi'Karia Owens, Ah'Rian, Anderson, Adriah Anderson, A'Driyh Anderson, Zy`Kerria Anderson, Adrian Anderson, Jr., and Anjai Anderson. Also, four great grandchildren, Kenzlee Ewing, Khloe Ewing, Tiarrus Ewing and Kindrix Ewing-Clemons.
Jeany will lie in state from 12:00 p.m. until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 24, 2022, at the St. Matthews Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor Floyd Wade will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.
The pallbearers will be Mikey Ewing, Michael Owens, Juan Owens, Caleb Johnson, Larry Smith, Curtis McCatrey.
The honorary pallbearers will be Demetric Owens, Demetrion Owens, Trayvon Owens, Leon Owens, Mareco McCatrey, Jeffrey Ewing, Percy Owens, Jr., Marshall Reed, III and Pershard Owens.
