JERRY WAYNE FARIS, age 59, a resident of Charleston, died Saturday, June 4, 2011, at the Miner Nursing Center.
He was born August 25, 1951 in Charleston to the late Dixie and Ressie Jackson Faris. He had lived in Vienna, IL most of his life returning to Southeast Missouri in 2003. At age 17 he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp and served in Vietnam as a rifle sharpshooter and trencher receiving the National Defense medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and RVN Cross of Gallantry. He was of Baptist faith.
He was married Emily Sue Manker who preceded him in death in 1999.
Surviving are two daughters and sons in law, Ashley and O.J. Bollinger of Sikeston and Crystal and Lee Boze of Vanduser; two brothers Dick Jackson of Branson, and Steve Faris of Greenway, AR ; one sister, Nancy Hinamon of Cadiz, KY; and five grandchildren, Hannah Pemberton, Gage Pemberton, and Tristian Vaughn all of Sikeston, and Hunter Lawfield and Tanner Boze both of Vanduser.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Timmy Faris and Jackie Faris.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 10, 2011, at Calvary Cemetery.
Missouri Military Honor Guard will conduct Military Graveside Rites.
Interment will follow under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.
