Jerry Ray Lynn, 84, a life-long resident of this area, died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2019 at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. He was born March 13, 1935 in Sikeston to the late Denton and Nora (Hensley) Lynn.
Jerry had attended the First Assembly of God Church and enjoyed a hobby in his shop of various woodworking and cabinet projects. A graduate of Sikeston High School, he had been employed as a baker at Hart's Bakery and later Bunny Bread and was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
On May 31, 1957 he was married to Evola Bonta in Hernando, MS and she survives of the home. Also surviving are 2 daughters & sons-in-law; Karla and Steve Hardin and Sheila and Donnie Beggs all of Sikeston; 3 grandchildren, Taylor Beggs, Shelby Beggs and Bryce Beggs all of Sikeston; and a grand-niece Lauren Hardy and a grand-nephew Dylan Stephens both of Sikeston. Other survivors include his best friend, Bobby Hinton and his loyal pet-companion, Katie. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Visitation will be at Blanchard Funeral Chapel from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm Friday, Aug. 30. The funeral service will be at 1:00 pm in the Blanchard Chapel with Rev. Dwayne Coleman, pastor of Canalou Baptist Church officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jim Stephens, Dylan Stephens, Donnie Beggs, Austin Hailey, Dennis Ziegenhorn and Steve Hampton. Online condolences may be shared with the family at blanchardfuneral.com.
