Geraldine Ruth "Jerry" Meyer, 87, died Monday, Oct. 10, 2016 at Missouri Delta Medical Center. She was born Dec. 17, 1928 at Bunker to the late Mont and Beulah (Mooney) Smith. A resident of Sikeston the past three years, she had previously resided most of her life in St. Louis. Upon graduation from Fredericktown High School in 1945, she went to work as secretary for the U.S. Civil Service.
On March 20, 1965, in Florissant, she married Edwin W. Meyer Jr. Together they enjoyed a life of boating and travel and were members of the Con Trios Yacht Club and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. He preceded her in death Dec. 18, 2003.
She is survived by one sister, Glenna (Bill) Priday of Sikeston; and nieces and nephews and great-nieces and -nephews who lovingly refer to her as "Aunt Jerry."
She was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Smith.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17 at Blanchard Funeral Chapel with Patrick Hogan, minister of Shady Acres Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow Monday at 2:15 p.m. at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis Her nephews, Ron and Brad Priday, will officiate at the committal service.
