James Dale Reedy, 71, of Charleston, died Saturday, October 9, 2021, at St. Louis, MO.
Jim was born to Glenn Reedy and Esther Loy Reedy of Villa Grove, IL on February 27, 1950.
Jim is survived by his wife Barbara of the home, two sons, Tip (Tara), Derek (Miranda), and one daughter, Teresa (Albert) Davis. Two stepsons, David (Vicki) Hurley, Trent (Amanda) Hurley, fifteen grandchildren, his sister Janice (Jerry Crawford) Sutton, several nieces and nephews, and the mother of his children Mary (Steve) Pritchard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Terrell Reedy, one sister Cholanne Greathouse, and one son, Richard Reedy.
After graduating from Eastern Illinois University, he taught Science for a period of time. Later he managed several fertilizer plants in Illinois before retiring from the American Kennel Club as an investigator in 2000.
After moving to Charleston, he enjoyed working for various farmers in the area as a seasonal worker.
He and his wife were avid fisherman traveling several hundred miles a year following the Crappie Tournament trails. Before the tournaments were over, Jim would have met and shared stories with most of the other teams. Always ready to make new friends whether in the parking lot or on the lake. He always said that "If you don't have a good time, it is your own fault." He was especially proud of winning 1 st place in both the Florida and Alabama tournaments in the same year.
Any fishing friends attending the service are invited to wear their team jerseys.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 15, 2021 , at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Masonic rites will be conducted prior to the funeral hour.
Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.
