James E. "Jim" Young, 73, died Friday. Oct. 19, at Sikeston Convalescent Center. He was born June 22, 1945 at Anna, IL to the late Benjamin Edwin and Nettie Pearl (Lovelace) Young. Jim was a long-time resident of Sikeston and was a well known general contractor. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served 2 tours of duty in Vietnam; He was a member of the V. F. W. and American Legion. He is survived by 1 daughter, Jamie Young and her children Maya Young and Jaden Young all of St. Louis; his long-time companion, Ann (Corbett) Smith of Sikeston and her children, Andrew & Erin Smith and their children Corbett and Zadie Smith all of Sherman, Texas. Also surviving are nephews, Shawn Lyerla of Naylor, Matthew Lyerla of Paducah, Michael Cunningham of Anna, IL, Daniel Cunningham of Louisiana, David Crouch and Steve Crouch of Florida and Erick Lemons of Anna; nieces, Lori Hurlburt of Chantilly, VA, Keri Fischer of Honolulu. Hawaii, Heather Cunningham, Toni Cunningham, and Sheri Lemons all of Anna, Monica Poole & Leslie Poole of Virginia, and Lilly Craig of Seattle, WA. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers, 3 sisters and 2 nephews.
