JIMMIE POOR, age 75, died Monday, May 10, 2010 at his home in Sikeston.

Born March 1, 1935, at Black Rock, AR to the late Lecile and Mary Parlee Halliard Poor, he had lived in Mississippi and Scott Counties most of his life having lived in Sikeston the past few years where he was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Sikeston. He was employed as a First Mate with the Mid-South Towing Company until his retirement in 1999. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and carpenter.

On September 9, 1955, he married Betty Evans, who survives of the home in Sikeston.

Also surviving is: two sons and one daughter in law, Mark and Beth Poore of East Prairie and Dean Poore of Sikeston; one daughter and son in law, Vickie and Lloyd Holloway of Sherman, TX; three sisters, Leatrice Orendoff of Jackson, Ruby Poore of East Prairie, and Gayle Nelson of St. Louis; five grandchildren, Jessica (Joel) Clements of Slater, MO; Jacob Poore of Kansas City, MO; Dylan Poore of Dexter; Cory (Nate) Biddick of Dallas, TX and Candace Holloway of Brooklyn, NY; two great grandchildren, Gus Biddick and Emmerson Biddick both of Dallas, TX.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Melburn Powell, Otis Powell, Dempsey Powell, James Poore and Ameil J. Powell and by two sisters, Imo Cooper and Flo Welch.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 13, 2010. Rev. Bob Medlock of Sikeston and Rev. Joe McCollough, pastor of Fellowship Baptist Church of Sikeston, will officiate.

Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.
