Jimmy Ray Farmer, Sr., 59, died Thursday July 24, 2013 at St. Francis Meedical Center at Cape Girardeau. He was born April 29, 1954 in Cape Girardeau to Violet (Abernathy) Farmer and the late Walter Lee Farmer who survives of Sikeston. A life-long resident of this area he had worked at Bunny Bread for 27 years and then for the last 12 years at Alan Wire. He was married Dec. 4, 1976 to Mary Lou Eakins in Sikeston and she survives of the home. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by 1 son & daughter-in-law, Jimmy R. & Sheila Farmer, Jr. of Sikeston; 1 daughter & son-in-law, Marie & Trenton Cain of Cypress, Tx.; 2 brothers, David Farmer of Benton and Roy (Lena) Farmer of Sikeston; 2 sisters, Sue Mays of Sikeston and Jane (Danny) Davis of Benton; 4 grandchildren, Lydia, Keira, Timothy & Heather and 3 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a special friend, his father-in-law, Jerry Eakins, several special cousins, nieces and nephews as well as 1 very special niece, Keri Hafford. Besides his father he was preceded in death by 1 daughter, Elaina Maria Farmer. Friends may call at Blanchard Funeral Chapel from 5 - 8 pm Friday where funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday July 27. Rev. David Thompson, pastor of Morley Baptist Church and Rev. Dennis Lowe, pastor of Unity Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lindell Eakins, Travis Harper, Manuel Moit, Raymond Butler, Jaret Farmer and Roy Farmer. Honorary pallbearers will be David Farmer, Jane Davis, Sue Mays, Jimmy R. Farmer, Jr., Rose Marie Cain and Danny Davis. The family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Childrens Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
