Jimmy Hatchel

James Dean "Jimmy" Hatchel, age 70, formerly of Bernie, MO, died Friday, July 28, 2023, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born June 9, 1953, at Dexter, MO, to Shirley Lee Norman Blackburn who survives of Charleston, and the late Franklin D. Hatchel, he was a 1971 graduate of Bernie High School and had lived in the Bernie area most of his life.   He was a retired truck driver.

Surviving in addition to his mother is his daughter, Jessica Pierce; his sisters, Jeanne (Glen) Marshall and Judy (Dan) Duenne; his nephew and nieces, Matthew Christopher Hatchel, Laurie Bell, Danielle Duenne, Kate Ann Medlock and Victoria Duenne; also, six great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Donnie Hatchel and his stepfathers, Lucian E. Black and Richard Blackburn.

Private family graveside services will be held at the Bernie Cemetery.

McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston is in charge of arrangements.
