Jimmy A. Jones, 78, died at his home near Sikeston at 10:45 am Tuesday, April 23, 2013. He was born Sept. 16, 1934 at Cash, Arkansas to the late James Herschel and Vady May (Kelley) Jones. A resident of this area most of his life he was a member and Deacon of Old Bethel Baptist Church. He had been employed as production foreman at Bunny Bread and later as a landscaper & tractor driver. On Dec. 24, 1953 he was united in marriage to Anita "Joyce" Jeffries at Crowder and she survives of the home. Other survivors are 1 son and daughter-in-law, Rick & Sylvia Jones of Sikeston; 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Debra & David Smith of Sikeston, Vickie & Don Williams of Sikeston, and Ronda & Steve Sloan of Sikeston. 2 brothers, Art Jones of Corning, Ark. and Lee Jones of Rochelle, IL; and 4 sisters, Pat Hale of Sikeston, Barb Gerders of Oklahoma, Bonnie Simpkins and Judy Vandever both of Corning. 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers, 2 sisters and 1 greatgranddaughter. Friends may call at Blanchard Funeral Chapel from 5 until 8 pm Thursday, April 25, 2013. Visitation will then be held at Old Bethel Baptist Church from 1 pm Friday until time for services at 2 pm with Rev. Steve Vester, the pastor officiating. He will be assisted by Rev. Joe Skinner. Burial will follow at Silent Hill Cemetery under the direction of Blanchard Funeral Chapel.
