Obituary

James "Jimmy" Dale Ryan, 79, formerly of Sikeston, died Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, Iowa.  He was born October 10, 1938 in Sikeston to the late Cordie and Evelyn (Ryan) Raines.  Jim was a very active worker in his church, Canalou Baptist Church; had been a printer at Boise-Cascade, and was very proud of his service as a Lance Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps.  He had been married to Norma Gene Powell and she preceded him in death Oct. 20, 2011.  He is survived by 1 daughter, Sharon (Metz) Ryan of Sherrill, Iowa; 1 son and daughter-in-law, Steven & Lori Ryan of Bolingbrook, Illinois;  1 brother  Tommy Raines of Sikeston and 1 sister, Martha Kay Bradley of Sikeston.  Also surviving are 6 grandchildren: Larry Maples, Candace (Joey) Crowley, Darcy Donohue,, Steven Ryan, Stephanie Courtney and James (Courtney) Courtney; and 5 great-grandchildren: Ava Maples, Evelyn Maples, Elijah Crowley, Josiah Crowley and Noah Crowley.  He was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 2 sisters.  Visitation will be at Canalou Baptist Church Saturday, March 3 from 10:00 am until time for services at 12:00 Noon.  Rev. Dewayne Coleman, his pastor and dear friend will officiate and burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston with full military honors.  Pallbearers will be Larry Maples, Steven James Dale Ryan, Joey Crowley, James Courtney, Brian Hartlein and Teddy "The Boss" Sweet.  The family requests memorial contributions be made in his honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital  501 St. Jude Place  Memphis, TN  38105-9959.  Online condolences may be shared with the family at blanchardfuneral.com.
