JIMMY SPARKS, Age 71, a resident of Wyatt, died Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born December 10, 1942, at Cairo, IL, to the late Arthur Ceburn and Thelma West Sparks, he had lived in Wyatt most of his life where he was a member of the New Covenant Pentecostal Holiness Church . He had served on the Wyatt Fire Department, as the operator of the Wyatt Water Department, and as the Wyatt City Marshall a number of years until his retirement in January 2014. He had also served as a reserve deputy Sheriff with the Mississippi County Sheriff Department and was a U.S. Air Force Veteran.
On January 19, 1963, he married Linda Weakley, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Jamie and Kelly Sparks of Trussville, AL and Brandon M. and Brooke Sparks of Sikeston; two daughters and one son-in-law, Marcy Sparks and Kristi and Brad Yount all of Sikeston; grandchildren, Hayli Chapman, Madison Yount, Kaleb Yount, Wyatt Sparks, Jackson Sparks and Miles Sparks.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, O.J. Leffler.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 17, 2014 at the New Covenant Pentecostal Holiness Church in Wyatt. Kenneth Gibson, will officiate.
Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston will full military rites provided by the U.S. Air Force and the Missouri Military Honors Program.
