JOE DARREL BLACK, Age 81, a resident of Boaz, Ky., died Friday, June 25, 2010 at the Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, KY.
Born March 15, 1929 at Bear Springs, TN to the late Dillard Homer and Edna Watts Black, he retired in 1972 after 21 years of service in the United States Air Force Veteran and moved to Western Kentucky where he was employed with Paducah Marine Ways until its closing and then with the McCracken County Board of Education Custodial Department until his retirement. He was a member of the St. Henry Catholic Church in Charleston, Missouri.
On May 29, 1948, he married Agnes Imogene Manker, who preceded him in death on August 17, 1999.
Surviving is: one son, Dillard "Wade" Black of Boaz, Ky.; also a number of extended family members.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Leslie Black, Maurice Black and James "Randy" Black and by two sisters, Earlene Hayes and Sarah Black.
Visitation is from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, June 28, 2010 at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where a prayer service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Monday evening. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at the McMikle Funeral Home with Rev. Glenn Eftink, pastor of St. Henry Catholic Church in Charleston, officiating.
The Missouri Military Honors Program will conduct graveside rites at the Calvary Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.
