Obituary

Joe Dave Jenkins, age 75, a resident of East Prairie, Missouri, died Friday, May 30, 2025, surrounded by family and friends at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Born May 17, 1950, in Ontario, California, to the late Max L. Jenkins and Irene Boyd Jenkins, he attended East Prairie schools. He was a self-employed carpenter and for almost 30 years was employed with Mississippi County as the sexton of Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.

On September 23, 1966, he married Pauline Cain. Together they had one daughter and two grandchildren.

He enjoyed working, lending a hand to others, and spending quality time with family and friends. In his spare time, he enjoyed taking naps in his backyard swing. In his younger days he enjoyed riding his motorcycle with his wife and friends. He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, and "Papaw" to his grandchildren.

Joe is survived by his wife of 59 years, Pauline "Paula" Jenkins; his daughter, Cindy (Mark) Counts; his two beloved grandchildren, Tanner Counts and Shelby Counts; also, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister and brothers, Dolly Jenkins, Max "Macky" Jenkins and Tommy Jenkins.

Per Joe's wishes there will be no services.

McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston is in charge of arrangements.
