Obituary

JOSEPH HERMAN 'JOE' TELKER, age 92, died Saturday, November 6, 2021, at his home in the Texas Bend Community north of Charleston.

Joe was born November 15, 1928, at home on the family farm in the Texas Bend Community of Mississippi County, Missouri, son of the late William Raymond Telker and Margaret Frances Renaud Telker.

Following his graduation from St. Henry Catholic School in 1946, he farmed with his father, a short time, before enlisting in the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict in Okinawa, Japan.  He then returned to Texas Bend and farmed until his retirement.  He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church in Charleston and also a member of The Knights of Columbus.

On January 8, 1955, he married Dolores M. Atkins, who survives of the home.

Also surviving are his children, Michael C. (Patricia) Telker, Patricia Telker Cyr-(Dan) Dimoush and Joseph W. (Russell) Telker- Hernandez; his sister, Frances C. Telker; his grandchildren, Christopher Gilomen, Brendt Cyr and Jacob Telker; his great grandchildren, Blake Gilomen, Jack Cyr and Kai Telker as well as a number of very special nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Sylvester Telker, Wilbert Telker, Alfred Telker, Albert Telker, Charles Telker and his sisters, Dorothy Telker Uthoff, Wilma Telker Bohannon and a long time family friend, Clem Burcks.

Family and friends may gather for the recitation of the Rosary and parish prayers at 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, November 9, 2021 , at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where visitation will continue from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday evening .

The funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 10, 2021 , at the St. Henry Catholic Church in Charleston.  Father David Dohogne, pastor, will serve as celebrant.

Interment with full military honors will follow in the Calvary Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.

Pallbearers will be: Mike Bryant, Andy Bryant, Dan Duenne, Bob Uthoff, John Bledsoe, Mike Duenne, Gary Lynn Poyner and Buddy Reeves.
