JOHN WILLIAM ELKINS, Age 81, a resident of East Prairie, died Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at the Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Born September 28, 1935, in Todd County, KY, to the late William Harrison and Lena Siggers Elkins, he had lived in East Prairie for over 50 years and had attended the First General Baptist Church in East Prairie and owned his own lawn care service. Prior to moving to East Prairie, he had lived in the Chicago area where he was employed in fabrication and welding.

On June 3, 1970, he married Jessie Alice Love, who preceded him in death on November 23, 1992.

Surviving are his brothers, Thomas Elkins of Bluff Springs, KY and Wayne Elkins of Dawson Springs, KY; two sisters, Helen Henderson of Fearsville, KY and Elizabeth Blaylock of Elkton, KY; also a number of nephews, nieces and cousins.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death a stepson, Billy Gene Love; four brothers, William Elkins, Carroll Elkins, Paul Edward Elkins and Robert Allen Elkins and by one infant brother and one infant sister.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 27, 2016, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Graveside services will follow at 10:30 a.m. at the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery. Martin Lucas, will officiate.

Interment will follow under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.
