JOHN W. HODGES II, ag e 58, a resident of Sikeston, formerly of Charleston, died Saturday, March 21, 2009, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
He was born November 3, 1950 in Cairo, IL to the late John W. "Jake" Hodges and Anna Sue Davis Hodges. He was a graduate of Charleston High School and had attended Southeast Missouri State University before enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1970. Following his discharge in 1974, he was employed with the US Corps of Engineers for 28 years, working mainly in Tennessee, until his retirement in 2006. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Surviving are one son, Steven Hodges of Sikeston; one daughter and son in law, Lisa and Adam Russell of Sikeston; three sisters Linda (Dan) Rockett of League City, TX, Lucy Ledbetter of Sikeston, and Janie (Alen) Pemberton of Charleston; also four grandchildren, Ethan Russell, Tharen Russell, Libertie Hodges, and Hayden Hodges all of Sikeston.
Funeral Services were conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 23, 2009 at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Rev. Jim Pemberton, Pastor of Faith – Caruth - Hornersville United Methodist Church, will officiate.
Interment followed in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery with military rites provided by the Missouri Military Honors Program.
Pallbearers were Adam Russell, Chad Ledbetter, Clinton Graham, Taylor Burke, Rodney Crosier and Bernie Golinski.
