JOHN JOSEPH STEELE, age 71, died Saturday, February 6, 2021, at his residence in Cape Girardeau.

He was born March 13, 1949 in St. Louis to Bernard W. and Laverne Muriel Kaufmann Steele.  He had worked for the Teamsters, with Bietermans, and then Northeast Correctional Center and was a member of the NRA.

Surviving are his wife of 25 years, Ann Steele of the home; six daughters, Tabitha (Aaron) Mueller of Cape Girardeau, Jodi Walker of Key West, FL, Michelle Steele, Stacey (Stefan)  Hamelin  and Christie (Bill) Brungart all of St. Charles  and Rebecca Steele of Hazelwood; one brother, Bernard Steele of Overland; and three sisters, Susan Notestine of Edwardsville, IL, Patricia (Robert) Schramm of Hazelwood, and Barbara (Thomas) Ebl of O'Fallon; also thirteen grandchildren, Ava, Keagon, Amsley, and Kinlee Mueller, Eli and Blake Lumos, Rhianna Steele Miles, Grey and Silas Hamelin, and Christian, Caden, and Jackson Brungart.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A private memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
