Obituary

We are so sad to announce the passing of John "Johnny" Michael Thurman of Charleston and Cape Girardeau, Missouri, due to a tragic bike/car accident on Friday, July 8th, 2022.

Johnny took his last breath at the age of 41, surrounded by loved ones at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was a beautiful person who spread joy and happiness wherever he went; he will be deeply missed by many.

Johnny was a magnificent artist with artwork on murals around Cape Girardeau and also decorating thousands of people's bodies with his unique tattoos. He was known also for his love of nature and building a watering hole for the bees in his front yard. Johnny was a soft-spoken man with a big bright soul who impacted so many people in so many ways.

Johnny is preceded in death by his parents John Henry Thurman and Cora Marie Nolen Thurman; grandparents, William Henry and Anna Pauline Dyer Nolen and Elmer William "Mike" and Pauline Christina Hart Thurman.

He is survived by his wife, Amber Danyelle Young-Thurman, and daughter, Ambretta, and his brother, Josh Thurman.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, July 17, 2022, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.

"A celebration of his life will take place on Aug. 13 at Blue Diamond Sports Bar starting at 6 p.m. located at 26 Main St in Cape Girardeau . Danyelle invites anyone who knew Thurman to attend and to wear bright colors, bring memorabilia and stories of interactions with him."
