JOHN DAVID WHITEHEAD, age 63, resident of Charleston died on Sunday, July 8, 2012, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born November 14, 1948 in Mississippi County, Missouri to the late William C. and Lucy Pauline Farmer Whitehead.
He had lived in Charleston most of his life. A graduate of Charleston High School, he was employed at French Implement Company for many years until his retirement. He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church in Charleston.
On December 16, 2000 he married Barbara Jean Carter Griggs who preceded him in death on September 28, 2011.
Survivors include seven brothers, Charles D. Whitehead of Jefferson City, William C. Whitehead Jr. of Emporia, Virginia, Arthur Jesse Whitehead of Sikeston, George Irvin Whitehead of O'Lean, James F. Whitehead of Wyatt, Benjamin A. Whitehead, and Robert A. Whitehead both of Charleston.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard W. Whitehead, and Frank Russell Whitehead; and three sisters, Carla Jo Knaup, Jenny Lee Wedeking, and Nancy Susan Risko.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11:00 a.m. at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Rev. Larry Potts, pastor of Mighty Rivers Regional Worship Center in Cairo, IL, will officiate.
Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be George Irvin Whitehead, James F. Whitehead, Benjamin A. Whitehead, Robert A. Whitehead, Spencer Clayton Whitehead, and Berry Hooper.
