Jon Price Carson, 71, of Tucson, Arizona died peacefully at his home with the Catalina and Rincon

college at Memphis State University where he received a Bachelor of Science, and later earned his RN
degree from Methodist Hospital School of Nursing. Through the years, the Carson-McCaffertys lived in
Memphis, Tennessee; Wilton Manors, Florida; and Tucson, Arizona where Jon especially enjoyed the
beautiful morning mountain backdrop along with a cup of coffee.
Jon began his medical career in Memphis, Tennessee as a Microbiologist at St. Jude Children's Research
Hospital. He was a Professor, a helicopter flight nurse; and an Air Ambulance nurse. A highlight of Jon's
career was his tenure as a Trauma Nurse at the Elvis Presley Memorial Trauma Center also in Memphis.
Later he worked at Tucson Heart Hospital; as an Administrator at Memorial Regional Hospital in
Hollywood, Florida as well as medical quality control specialist before retiring.
Surviving are Jon's husband of 25 years, Douglas McCafferty, sons Jak, James and Asher and their three
Italian Greyhounds, Junior, Blue and Bella; mother, Louise Carson of Wilton Manors, Florida; brother and
sister-in-law, Jed and Dorothy Carson of Marietta, Georgia; sister, Julie Carson of Wilton Manors, Florida,
and niece, Sarah Carson and finance Tyler Shearer of Vinita, Oklahoma, along with several cousins and
long-time friends.
Jon was preceded in death by his father, Jack Carson, on October 9, 2002.
Jon and family provided a loving foster home for several children over the years. He raised many fur
children, including several Italian Greyhounds, of blessed memory. Jon enjoyed RV camping, ocean
cruises, and Southern barbecue. He was committed to making the world a better place as demonstrated
by the rich love he shared with his husband and by instilling a strong foundation of integrity, dignity and
character in their three children.
