Jonathon Walter Herring was born August 31, 1981, in Henrico Doctor's Hospital in Richmond, Virginia, to Walter and Judith Nunnelee Herring. He passed away April 29, 2025, in Richmond, Virginia. He was 43 years old.

Jon loved coming to Sikeston to visit his grandparents, the late John F. and Myrtle Rogers Nunnelee. His fondest memories were riding on his grandfather's lawnmower while they mowed the grass. He also loved spending Christmas at his grandparents.

Besides his parents and stepfather Jim Leigh, he is also survived by his sister, Melody Ann Herring of Puxico, MO, nephew, Duane Austin Lyell of Sikeston, MO.

He had many aunts and uncles including Barbara Leigh, Sue Leigh, Skip and Nancy Leigh, Rod and Sharon Nunnelee, Vondine Lowe, cousins Mike Lowe, Tom and Alice Nunnelee, Cheryl Oglesby, Barbara Connella, Robert Whitfield Jr., Gena Nunnelee Ross, Priscilla Nunnelee Carpenter, Diane Nunnelee Showmaker, Angela and Dennis Dylla, Beverly and John Graham and Lori and Ben Gallegos.

Preceding him in death were his father, Walter Herring, grandmother Mattie Jane McSwain, aunts and uncles, Ann and Robert Whitfield, Robert Lowe, Lonnie Herring, Gene and Marie Lucille Nunnelee, cousins Edward Nunnelee and Darlene Olive.

Visitation will be Tuesday May 20, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 1101 North Main, in Sikeston. Brother Glen Cantrell will officiate the service. Terry Parker will be pianist.
