JULIUS LEE "FAT" LASTER, age 79, a resident of Bertrand died at 3:10 a.m. Sunday, October 4, 2009 at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born on December 6, 1929 in the Crosno Community of Mississippi County to the late Herman and Goldie Groves Laster. He had lived in Bertrand most of his life and had been employed as a manager with Phillips Petroleum Company and later was employed with
M.F.A. Company in Charleston. He had assisted in coaching summer baseball teams, and enjoyed hunting and fishing but the joy of his life was his granddaughters. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving with the US Army, and was of Baptist faith.
On May 3, 1959 he married Della Faye Cain who survives of the home.
Also surviving are one daughter and son in law, Brenda and David Limbaugh of Sikeston; two granddaughters, Madeline and Emily Limbaugh of Sikeston; four sisters, Ruby Wyatt, Rosetta Christian, and Mary Frances Martin all of St. Louis and Ida Ellen Hunsburger of Warrenton.
Four brothers, John Laster, Albert "Doc" Laster, Joseph "Bud" Laster and Henry Herman Laster; and two sisters, Reba McClure and Joan Tinker, preceded him in death.
Friends may call after 5:00 p.m until 8:00 p.m on Tuesday, October 6, 2009, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday with Londa Richardson, pastor of the Church of God of Prophecy in Cleveland, TN, officiating.
Missouri Military Honor Guard will conduct Graveside Rites at the IOOF Cemetery north of Charleston with interment following under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.
