JUNIOR CURTIS

LESTER JUNIOR CURTIS, Age 85, died Sunday, January 17, 2021, at his home near Sikeston.

He was born May 14, 1935, at Selmar, TN, to the late William Ulus Curtis and Leota Smith Curtis.   As a young man he was a farmer and was then employed with Lewis Furniture in New Madrid as a delivery man.  He then went to work with Malone and Hyde and stayed with the company when it became Fleming where he retired as supervisor of the produce department.  He was a former member of the Sikeston Eagles Club and was member of the New Beginnings Church in East Prairie.

On January 23, 1954, he married Mary Viola Pipkin, who preceded him in death on June 4, 2017.

Surviving are his daughters, Mary Kathern Curtis and Carolyn Curtis both of Sikeston; his brothers and sisters, Billy Curtis of Plano, IL, Mable Pipkin and Betty Elsperman of Kewanee, Faye McDougal of Danville, IN, Martha Jo Laws of Newtown, IN and Wanda Carmack of Granite City, IL; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Also, a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Larry Junior Curtis and one sister, Eva McDougal.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at the McMikle Funeral Home at Sikeston where funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 20, 2021.  Rev. Randy Eskew will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery near Sikeston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Sikeston.

Pallbearers will be grandchildren and great grandchildren.
