MARY SuDONNA EDWARDS ATKINS, age 64, a resident of Independence, MO, formerly of Charleston, died Friday, February 17, 2017, at her home.

Born March 20, 1952, at Cairo, IL, to the late Billy and Mary Frances Williams Edwards, she had worked as a waitress several years at Shoney's Restaurant in Independence. She enjoyed playing computer games, crocheting, making arts and crafts and traveling. She was a member of the Southside Baptist Church in Charleston.

Surviving are her children, Jerrie (Eric) Gall and Robert Mayberry; siblings, Regina Wachter, Dennis (Teresa) Edwards, Rodney (Phyllis) Edwards and Robin Lee; grandchildren, Frannie, Natalie, Kurtis, Donette, Cassie, Carli and Milena; 11 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathy Weakley on February 8, 2017; brother, Bill Edwards and her granddaughter, Kaylee Weakley.

MARY KATHLEEN WEAKLEY, age 48, a resident of Independence, MO, died Wednesday, February 8, 2017.

Born May 9, 1968, in Charleston to Jerry and Mary Edwards Weakley, she had lived in Independence a number of years.

Survivors include her husband, Rodrigo Avila; daughters, Carli, Mary and Milena; sisters, Jerrie Call and Donette DiGiovanni; brother, Robbie Mayberry.

She was preceded in death by her father and by her daughter, Kaylee. Her mother followed in death on February 17, 2017.

Combined visitation for Donna Edwards Atkins and her daughter, Kathy Weakley, will be from 12:30 p.m. until funeral hour at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, March 5, 2017, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Rev. Dean Wallace and Rev. Mike McKinney will officiate. Music will be provided by their cousin, Gwen Watson.

Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
