Kathryn Austin "Kay" Hodges, age 92, a resident of Sikeston, formerly of the Samos Community of Mississippi County, died Thursday, October 15, 2020, at Clearview Nursing Center in Sikeston.

Born October 30, 1927 in Cairo, IL to the late Rufus Harris Austin and Lora Ruth (Holtzclaw) Austin. She lived in the Samos community as well as Sikeston and was of Baptist faith.

On September 8, 1944, in Blytheville, AR, Kay married J.C. Hodges, the love of her life. They shared 68 wonderful years together until his passing on November 26, 2012. Kay was a very devoted wife and loving mother.

In addition to her parents and husband, her son, Dennis Ray Hodges and two brothers, Lloyd and Bob Austin also preceded her in death.

She will be dearly missed by her niece, Sherry McCarthy of Alameda, CA and her "adopted kids", Stephen and Chris McClanahan and family.

Family and friends may assemble for graveside services at 2:30 p.m., Friday, October 16, 2020, at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston.  Mary Katherine Branum, will officiate.

Interment will follow under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.
