Lawrence (Larry) Robert Atwell

June 28, 1942 - February 3, 2024

Lawrence (Larry) Robert Atwell, age 81, of Chesterfield, Mo., passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, Feb. 3. Larry was born in St. Ann in 1942 to Bernice and Harry Atwell. He attended Pattonville and Hazelwood schools, studied at Ranken Technical College, and was a member of the Missouri National Guard. He spent his career in the automotive industry, driving for the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA), and working in service writing and management at dealerships across the St. Louis region.

Larry was a proud Parrothead, member of Show-Me Mustang Club, and he especially enjoyed weekends with live music and great friends at Sugar Creek Winery. He was fun-loving, laughed easily, loved golf, western novels and movies, road trips, car shows, and traveling to the salty sea with his Linda Sue!

Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Linda Sue (Robinson) Atwell of Charleston, Mo.; daughters Angela (Kevin) MacBryde, Stacey (Tony) Pappas, and Christina (Joe) Pavone; and stepsons Tony (Julie) Howlett and Ryan (Tina) Howlett. Larry is grandfather to Ernie (Melissa), Zach (Becca), Alex (Selena), Ava, Lauren, Myra, Andrew, Kate, Bayleigh, Kelsey, Jackson and Audrey, and great-grandfather to John, Natalie and a third great-grandchild due this spring. Beloved uncle, cousin, brother-in-law and friend.

Services will be held on Friday, Feb. 9, at Schrader Funeral Home located at 14960 Manchester Rd in Ballwin, Mo. Visitation from 9:30-11:30 am with a service following at 11:30 am in the Schrader Chapel. Private burial at Brush Creek Cemetery in Gray Summit, Mo. In lieu of flowers, donations to Jimmy Buffett's foundation, "Singing for Change," or The American Cancer Society are greatly appreciated.

As Jimmy Buffett said:  "Breathe in, breathe out…move on!" "Shells sink, dreams float. Life's good on our boat," and "Mother Mother Ocean, I have heard your call."
