Larry Wayne Coffer, age 80, died Friday, March 22, 2024, at his home near East Prairie, MO.
Born December 19, 1943, at Anniston, MO, to the late Rev. Bradley Coffer and Mabel Lucille Holdiness Coffer, he was a 1962 graduate of Anniston High School and had lived in Mississippi County his entire life. Larry was a mechanic all his life. He loved being able to help people. For 30 years he was employed at Noranda and later MRM Ag near East Prairie. A longtime member of the Diehlstadt General Baptist Church, he faithfully served the church as a Sunday School Teacher and in many other capacities. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
On June 17, 1965, he married Shirley Jean Russell, who survives of the home.
Also surviving is his daughter, Gina (Shon) Presson; his grandson, Shayne Presson; granddaughter, Shawna (Jordan) Lingle; the loves of his life, his great grandchildren, Chloe Faith Presson and Kolt Matthew Lingle; his brother, Charles Bradley Coffer, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, O.V. Coffer, William Edward Coffer, Henry Dale Coffer, Doye Gene Coffer and his sister, Mary Leota Groce.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral hour 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at the Diehlstadt General Baptist Church. David Belk and Kris Alexander will officiate.
Interment with military honors will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.
Pallbearers will be Charlie Keene, Charles Kirby, Darren Haney, Jimmy Reno, Shayne Presson, Rodney Seiler. Honorary Pallbearers will be: John Noonan, Carley Cooksey, Milas Mainord, Danny Smithson, Charles Byassee, Stanley Dorris, Joe Nall, Rick Knight, Les Keene, Lonnie Polk, Brent Shanks, Roger Howlett, Wiley Allred, Delmar Gillespie and Shon Presson.
