Larry Drummond

Thurston Larry Drummond, age 84, of Kevil, KY and formerly of East Prairie, MO, died Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Baptist Health in Paducah, KY.

Born January 1, 1941, at East Prairie, MO, to the late Thurston Bradley Drummond and Minnie Maude True Drummond, he grew up in East Prairie and was a 1958 graduate of East Prairie High School. He then served in the United States Navy.  He and his wife lived for many years in the Kevil and Barlow area of Western Kentucky where they raised their family.  Larry was engaged in farming and his wife Mary opened and operated the first pre-school in that area.

On August 6, 1960, he married Mary Sue Stallings, who preceded him in death May 30, 2012.

Surviving are his children, Larry Christopher (Cathy) Drummond of Barlow, KY, Carol Kelley (DeWayne) Henderson of Gilbertsville, KY and Patrick Scott (Robin) Drummond of Woodleaf, NC; his sisters, Lois Drummond Edwards and Sue Drummond Thresher of East Prairie; seven grandchildren, Anna (Dillan) Sexton, Elle Henderson, Logan (Rachel) Drummond, Chase (Breezy) Drummond, Blake (Justin) Emberton, Zachary Drummond and Kolbi Drummond; nine great grandchildren, Wyatt Drummond, Nellie Drummond, Farren Kate Drummond, Oliver Drummond, Jules Drummond, Roman Sexton, Judah Sexton, Mary Adalyn Emberton and Alan Jay Emberton; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Sidney Drummond.

Private family graveside services will be conducted with full military honors at the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston, Missouri.

The pallbearers will be Zachary Drummond, Chase Drummond, Logan Drummond, Lawson Thresher, Brent Thresher and Riley Colson.

McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston, MO, is in charge of arrangements.
