LARRY WAYNE MITCHELL, Age 68, a resident of West Paducah, KY, died Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at Baptist Health Center in Paducah, KY.
Born July 16, 1948, at Charleston, MO, to Gertrude Lenora Skinner Mitchell Ham who survives of Wickliffe, KY and the late Vernon Cecil Mitchell, he grew up in the Mississippi and Scott Counties in Missouri and moved to West Paducah, KY in 1973 where he was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church. Both an experienced mechanic and truck driver, he owned and operated Larry's Auto Parts in West Paducah a number of years and did over the road commercial trucking, often as medical equipment transport of portable MRI and Cat Scan equipment. He had also driven for the Fleetwood Company. An avid lover of Hot Rod Cars, he was especially proud of his 1966 Chevelle and loved Southern Gospel Music.
On September 24, 1967, he married Sherry Kay Bacon, who survives of the home in West Paducah.
Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are one daughter, Deborah Lynne Mitchell of West Paducah; two brothers, Stanley (Michelle) Mitchell of West Paducah and Ron (Jeannie) Mitchell of Sikeston, MO; one sister, Tina (Robert) McKendree of Wickliffe; his stepfather, Lynn Ham of Wickliffe; one half-sister, Anita Diane Ham of Wickliffe; one granddaughter, Ashley Nichole Struble of West Paducah; one grandson, Nicholas Wayne Struble of Graves County, KY; two great grandchildren, Kaeden Michael Jeffers and Raleigh Austin Struble. Also, a number of other relatives and friends survive.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Vernon Dale Mitchell and one great granddaughter, Tristyn Deshay Jeffers.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 7, 2016, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, MO. Ron Mitchell and Steve Vester will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be: Brandon Throgmorton, Robert McKendree, Nick Struble, Thomas Skaggs, Steve Kepley and Donnie Ray Skinner.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Darrin Skinner, Joey Burns and Dalton Skinner
