Obituary
LAWRENCE PAUL GIASSON, SR., age 74, died Thursday, May 1, 2014, at his residence in Sikeston.
He was born June 29, 1939 in Momence, IL to the late Arthur Henry and Annebelle Morse Giasson. He lived most of his life in Momence, IL where he was employed by Glister Mary-Lee as a maintenance mechanic until his retirement and was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Bourbonnais, IL. In September 2003 he moved to Sikeston where he was a member of the Old Bethel Baptist Church and the Golden Jubelliers. He was a US Army veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 0114 in Sikeston. His favorite pastimes were watching stock car races, sitting on his front porch listening to the radio, and visiting with his family and friends.
On February 20, 1960 he married Wanda Elaine Henderson who survives of the home.
Also surviving are three children, Barbara Elaine (Darrell) Stovall of Sikeston, Lawrence Paul (Carlene) Giasson Jr. of St. Anne, IL, and Glenda Sue (Gregory) Payne of Bradley, IL; four sisters, Annette Martin of Diane, TX, Judy (George) Meyers and Loretta (Donald) Haut all of Momence, IL and Jill (Chris) Thompson of Kankakee, IL; 15 grandchildren,13 great grandchildren and two great grandchildren on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Edwin Russell Giasson; three brothers, Ernest Giasson and Ronald Giasson and Joseph Giasson; four sisters, Catherine Thomas, Elaine Varrell, Louise Keen, and Louba Ann Giasson.
Visitation will be conducted at the Old Bethel Baptist in Sikeston from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday, May 2, 2014, where Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:00 am Saturday, May 3, 2014. Rev. Steven Vester, pastor, will officiate.
Missouri Military Honor Guard will conduct graveside rites at the Silent Hills Cemetery.
Interment will follow under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Ryan Stovall, Raymond Stovall, Darrell Stovall II, Jacob Payne, Ben Payne, Matthew Payne, Issac Trusty, and Curtis Giasson.
