LAWRENCE JOSEPH McKINNEY, Age 60, died at 10:20 a.m., Saturday, June 20, 2009, at his home in Charleston.
He was born March 1, 1949 in Charleston, Missouri, to Neoma Beth Gay McKinney who survives of Charleston and the late Emory McKinney. He had lived in Charleston his entire life where he was a member of the First Baptist Church. For over 30 years, he worked with the Burkhart Foam Company at Cairo, Ill., as a truck driver. He enjoyed model trains and especially working with his nephews, Kenneth and Emory in their racing endeavors.
Surviving besides his mother is: two brothers, Bruce McKinney of Sikeston and Dennis McKinney of Dallas, Tx.; one sister Kathy Heil of Charleston and 23 nieces and nephews.
One brother, Bobby McKinney, preceded him in death.
Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, June 22, 2009 at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 23, 2009. Rev. Steve Vester, pastor of the Old Bethel Baptist Church near Sikeston, will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be: Chuck Simmons, Derek McCoy, Ben Heil, Jerry McClain, Jerry Hall, Robert Keener, Kenneth Smith and Kenneth McKinney.
Honorary Pallbearers: Keith McKinney, David Stark, Jackie Hailey.
