We are saddened to announce that Lee Ann Bruner Groves passed away on February 6, 2024, at her home in Bertrand surrounded by her loving husband and family.
Lee Ann was born March 14, 1969, at Sikeston, MO, to the late James W. Bruner, Jr. and the late Mary Jane (Bennett) Bruner.
Lee Ann attended St. Henry's Catholic grade school and was a 1987 graduate of Charleston High School. Throughout her life, she worked in many professions including as a licensed beautician, factory worker, CDL truck driver, in-home care worker, and for FedEx until ill health forced her into early retirement.
On March 6, 2015, she married Michael W. Groves, who survives of the home.
Lee Ann is survived by one brother, Tom Bruner and wife Chara of Thebes, Illinois, and sisters, Leslie Thresher and husband Brent of East Prairie, Missouri and Susan Bruner of Alabama; two nephews, Kyle Bruner and Lawson Thresher of East Prairie; great niece Jerzie Wicker; great nephews Lane Bruner and Kylen Bruner, and a host of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Thomas H. Bennett and Anna Stricker Bennett, and her paternal grandparents, James William Bruner and Ida Lee Bruner.
Her fiery spirit will be missed by those who knew and loved her. A special thank you to VNA Hospice for their compassionate care.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 12, 2024, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Father David Dohogne, pastor of St. Henry Catholic Church in Charleston, will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
Pallbearers will be Emmett Groves, Brent Thresher, Lawson Thresher, Kyle Bruner, Ronnie Laster and Scotty Glenn.
