Obituary

LEE "JAKE" PATTENGILL, age 85, died Thursday, July 26, 2012, at his residence in rural Sikeston.

He was born October 23, 1926, in Cape Girardeau, MO, to the late William Channing and Nellie Pray Pattengill. He had lived and farmed in Southeast Missouri his entire life. With the help of his wife and four sons established Northcut Farms Inc. He was a member of the Unity Baptist Church where he was a former Sunday school teacher and served as deacon. He was the last living member of the charter committee that formed the Scott County Soil and Conservation, had served for many years as a board member of the R-4 School District, and was a former member of the IOOF Lodge, Progressive Farm Credit Service (PFCS), and Missouri Extension Agriculture Service. He was a veteran of WW II serving with the Merchant Marines.

On October 23, 1947, he married Lula Jane Daniel who preceded him in death on December 20, 2009.

Surviving are four sons and daughters in law, Lee and Tina Pattengill of Scott City, Bill and Diana Pattengill of Park Hills, Boyd and Michelle Pattengill of Benton, and Joe Wade and Barbie Pattengill of Whitewater; four sisters, Alice Hopper and Evelyn Zimmerman both of Cape Girardeau, Marie Cook of Yuma, AZ, and Ruby Hitt of Oak Ridge; 6 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren with one more expected in September, and 4 step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 2 sisters.

Visitation will be held at the McMikle Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, July 29, 2012. Funeral Services will be conducted at the Unity Baptist Church at 10:00 am on Monday, July 30, 2012 with the Pastor, Rev. Dennis Lowe, officiating.

Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be: Dustin Care, Susan Care, Justin Pattengill, Jacob Pattengill, Brandin Pattengill, Daniel Pattengill and Jess Pattengill.
