Lena Mae Daugherty Wood, age 91, died Thursday, August 17, 2023, at her home in Sikeston.

Born June 8, 1932, at Matthews, MO, to the late Cecil Stoker Daugherty and Lena Marie Acord Daugherty, she was a 1950 graduate of Matthews High School. Having lived in Sikeston most of her life, she was employed a number of years in banking.  She was a faithful member of the Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.

On June 7, 1951, she married James W. "Humpy" Wood, who preceded her in death April 1, 1997.

Surviving are her daughters, Debby (Todd) DeWitt of Fort Walton Beach, FL; Kathryn (Earl) Huffman of Hurst, TX; Marcia (Brad Wheeler) Duncan of Gray Ridge, MO; Susan (David) Dillender of Sikeston and Rosemary (Scott) Heeb of Benton, KY; her sister, Linda (Larry) MacNamara of Mesquite, TX; her grandchildren;  Stephanie (Kayvan) Ilkhanipour; Andy Lomax; Craig (Chelsey) Duncan; Dusty (Rachel) Kutos; Ryan (Laura) Davis; Jordan Dillender; Lauren Davis; Lindley (Chad) Smolinksi; Hunter (Tessa) Dillender; Alana (Jimmy) McAnally; Elizabeth (Steven) Tidwell and Nick (Amber) Heeb; Sydney (Jeff) Craft; also, 25 great grandchildren and her special and beloved fur baby, Prissy.

In addition to her husband and parents, Lena was preceded in death by her infant brother, Voyne Lenual Daugherty.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 21, 2023, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Sikeston.  Rev. John Tarter, pastor of Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery at Sikeston.

Pallbearers will be: Craig Duncan, Jordan Dillender, Hunter Dillender, Chad Smolinski, Ryan Davis and Adler Dillender.
