Obituary

LEORA MAY BENTLEY CHAPMAN, age 73, formerly of Anniston, died Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at Mercy South Hospital in St. Louis.

Born August 25, 1947, at Anniston, to Mary Frances McAfee Bentley who survives of Anniston, and the late Herbert Elmo Bentley, she grew up in Anniston and went on to attend Southeast Missouri State University graduating with a degree in Business Education and Library Science.   Leora then taught and served as a librarian for the Fox C-6 School District a number of years until her retirement.   She was a member of the First Baptist Church at Oakville, was a member of the Missouri State Teacher's Association and the Missouri Retired Teachers Association. She was a lover of books and music.

On June 14, 1969, she married Robert L. Chapman, who survives of the home.

In addition to her mother and husband, she is survived by her children, Christopher Lynn Chapman of Arnold, Jeffrey Scot Chapman of St. Louis and Leigh Diann Chapman of Arnold; also, her brother, John Herbert Bentley of Anniston.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her sister, Rita Louise Bentley.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 7, 2020, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. John Hessel will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Anniston Cemetery under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.
