LESTER H. STAPLES, Age 69, a resident of Arnold, formerly of East Prairie, died Saturday, January 20, 2018, at the home of his sister in Brentwood, MO.

Born October 12, 1948, at Cape Girardeau, MO, to Ruth Hockersmith Staples who survives of St. Louis, and the late Sidney Lee Staples, Sr., he was a 1966 graduate of East Prairie High School and had served in the United States Army during Vietnam. He held degrees in electronics engineering and had been employed as an electronics engineer and also as an instructor for ITT Tech in St. Louis.

Surviving in addition to his mother is one brother and sister in law, Sidney Lee (Kandi) Staples, Jr., of East Prairie; two sisters, Darlene Staples Felts of Sikeston and Imogene "Jeannie" Staples of Brentwood, MO; two nephews, Landry Staples and Lance Staples of East Prairie. Also, a number of cousins survive.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Martin Lucas of East Prairie will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Smith-Griggs Cemetery near Wyatt with full military honors provided by the United States Army and the Missouri Military Honors Program.
