Obituary

LIDA HAZEL CULP, age 97, formerly of Charleston, died Friday, March 25, 2011, at the Miner Nursing Center.

She was born on September 17, 1913 in Pittman, AR to the late Silas Joseph and Lida Maude Ryal Swank. She had lived in Charleston most of her life and had been a member of the Charleston United Methodist Church since 1925. She was a member and former President of the United Methodist Women and also a member of the Charleston Athena Club. She served the Charleston area as a groomer and boarder for cats and small dogs for many years.

On June 1, 1935 she married Lyman Pressnel Culp who preceded her in death on November 29, 1982.

Locally she is survived by two great nieces, Sharon Dugan and Marion Boulnois both of Charleston; two great nephews, Johnny Dugan of East Prairie and Bobby Dugan of Wyatt. She is also survived by one niece, Shirley Robinson of Fresno, CA; two nephews, Harry Joe Swank of Sioux Falls, SD and George H. Swank of the state of AZ; and many other great, great great, and great great great nieces and nephews living throughout the United States.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry Rush Swank and George Herman Swank, and one sister, Rachel Potter.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston from 10:00 a.m. until the Funeral hour at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Dan Faust, pastor of the United Methodist Church in Charleston, will officiate.

Interment will follow in the IOOF Cemetery under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Chris Dugan, Clay Dugan, Clark Dugan, Darryel Buchanan, Joe Boulnois, and Johnny Dugan.
