LINDELL GLENN ESTES, Age 85, a resident of rural Charleston, died
Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at the Bertrand Nursing Center.
Born March 11, 1923 at Scopus, MO to the late Jesse Lee and Inola Welker Estes, he had lived and farmed at Sand Hill Farm in Scott County for over fifty years. A US Army Veteran, he served during World War II in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Campaign.
On February 13, 1947, he married Lela Martijean (Jean) Welker who preceded him in death on August 16, 1983.
Surviving are: two sons and one daughter in law, Ronnie and Linda Estes and Dennis Estes all of Charleston; seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren; and a special friend, Aileen Troph of Advance.
One son, Larry Ray Estes; one daughter, Janet Faye Summers; one grandson, Derek Lynn Estes, seven brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Funeral services were conducted at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 23, 2008 with Rev. Jim Eskew of Morley officiating
Interment followed in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston with military honors provided by the Missouri Military Honors Program.
Pallbearers were his three grandsons, Paul Estes, Jason Estes, Michael Summers and also Jerry Estes, Floyd Brown and Ronnie Pullen.
