Lindsay E. McConachie
Lindsay E. McConachie, 65, of Columbia, MO, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2011 at University of Missouri Hospital.
Lindsay was born to Eugene and Betty Sue Elmore McConachie on September 13, 1946 in Cape Girardeau. He grew up in Charleston, Mo. and graduated from Charleston High School and Southeast Missouri State University. Lindsay was a member of the U.S. Naval Reserves and served a tour of duty in the Vietnam War.
He married Cherie Gabert on May 25, 1980 in St. Louis and she survives.
Lindsay was with Paramount Liquor Company, now Glazer's Midwest-Columbia, for over 25 years and recently retired.
He was an avid sports fan and fisherman.
Other survivors include two daughters, Megan McConachie and Erin McConachie, both of Columbia; a sister, Claudia Arington and husband Randy of East Prairie, Mo.; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Charla Gabert and David Frane of Alamo, Ca; mother-in-law Marcie Buck of Wildwood, MO; father-in-law Charles Gabert of California, Mo.; nieces Stephanie Moore and Leslie Allgier and nephews Paul Moore and John Arington; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, October 22 at 11:00 a.m. at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Charleston, Mo. Rev. Gerald Penn, pastor of the First Assembly of God Church in Charleston, will officiate.
Immediately following the burial, friends and family will gather at the home of Randy and Claudia Arington, 1451 S. Highway B in East Prairie, Mo.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to the The Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital-Liver Transplant Patient Care Fund #6616 at 1001 Highlands Plaza Drive West, Ste. 140, St. Louis, MO 63110. Lindsay was a liver transplant recipient and one of the best ways to honor his memory would be by signing an organ donor card or registering to become an organ donor.
