Lindsey Wise, 91, died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2017 at Delta South Nursing Facility in Sikeston. He was born March 28, 1926 in Bearcreek, Alabama to the late Denver and Julia (Collier) Wise. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II, was a retired farmer and construction worker, and was baptized in the Baptist Church. On November 13, 1948 he was married to Leta Lawrence and she survives of the home. They previously had resided in Michigan, St. Louis, Gulf Shores and Fairhope, Alabama before moving to Sikeston about seven years ago. In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; Lindsey Galen and Joan Wise of Fairhope and Jerry & Susan Wise of St. Louis; and 1 daughter, Pam Dyer of Sikeston. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Graveside rites will be held in committal chapel at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield at 11:00 am Thursday, Nov. 16 with Rev. Rick Chambliss, chaplain with V.N.A. Hospice officiating. Burial will follow with full military honors.
