Obituary

MAE LORENE PARKER McMILLEN, age 89, passed from this life into her eternal home, Saturday, December 8, 2018, surrounded by her family she loved so much.

Born December 19, 1928, in the Wolf Island Community of Mississippi County, MO, to the late James William "Tubby" Parker and Ora Mae Poyner Parker, she lived in the Florida Keys a number of years until moving to Bonne Terre, MO in 1992.

"Granny Mc", "Aunt Lorene", just a couple of names her family and friends often called her, was the youngest 10 children. Her love of the Lord was foremost at all times in her life. She was never one to scold, but often shared wisdom and advice based on her life of constant prayer and the study of God's word. Her biggest desire in life was to know that all her family and friends would also come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Her infectious laugh and ability to tell stories was unlike no other. The "Matriarch" of the Parker family, she was the family historian that all the cousins called upon when family information was needed. She never turned away those in need, often opening up her home to help someone get a much needed respite and a new start in life.  She was well loved and will certainly be missed.

On August 11, 1945, she married the love of her life, Robert "Bob" McMillen, who preceded her in death on October 16, 1994.

She is survived by her sons, Robert E. McMillen and Jimmy D. McMillen of Bonne Terre; her daughters, Marilyn (Gilbert) Roman of Glendale, AZ; Judy (Sheridan) Lane of Hillsboro, MO; Brenda (Dale) Eye of Oakville, MO and Beverly Hagan (Clois) Moultrie of Bonne Terre; 16 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Also, a number of nieces, nephews and beloved cousins, survive.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, William Bert Parker, James Floyce Parker, Rev. Walter Freeman Parker, Samuel Bryles Parker, Chroma Lee "Banty" Parker, Arbie Glathen Parker, infant twins, Rubin and Ruby Parker, and Katherine Earline Parker.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 15, 2018, at the McMikle Funeral Home.

Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.
