Lorene Marie Shively Watson, age 95, died Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Presbyterian Homes on Lake Minnetonka in Spring Park, Minnesota.
She was born July 24, 1918 in Wyatt, Missouri to the late Richard John Wesley Shively and Nora Lee Slack Shively. She grew up on a farm in Mississippi county that her father worked, then lived in St. Louis and Atlanta, GA until moving to Minnesota in 2007. She was baptized April 19, 1919 at St. Henry's Catholic Church in Charleston. While living in St. Louis she was an active member of the Third Baptist Church where she sang in the choir over 40 years and later served for many years as a deaconess. A seamstress by profession, she specialized in beautiful window treatments working for Decorators Incorporated, John Bardwell, and the Sunshine Drapery Company in St. Louis and Rich's Drapery Department in Atlanta, GA. Known for her cooking and baking, she was always a caregiver to others and the first to offer assistance to anyone in need.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Lola Watson and Michael Hillman of St. Louis Park, MN; nieces and nephews; Pat Carr, Thomas Lee Hart, Richard (Vicky) Hutcheson of Charleston; Carol Sue (John) Macredi of TN; James (Sharon) Forehand of MS; Suzanne Preston and David King both of NC; and many great nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers-in-law; Daisy (Clint) Hutcheson, Zelma (Donald) Forehand, Ruth (Thomas) Hart, Dorothy (Bill) King.
Graveside Services will be conducted Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 11:00 am at IOOF Cemetery in Charleston, MO.
