Louise Ann Edwards Carson
March 12, 1927 – April 30, 2026
Louise Ann Edwards Carson of Wilton Manors, FL passed away peacefully, Thursday, April 30, 2026, at the remarkable age of 99.
Born and raised in Richland Center, Wisconsin, Lou was the daughter of the late Dr. Wilmer (Bill) Edwards and Lucile Postel Edwards.
Louise lived a long, beautiful life filled with strength, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family and her faith. She was an extraordinary woman — a loving mother, a devoted wife, a tireless caregiver, and a steady source of warmth for everyone fortunate enough to know her.
While attending Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, Lou met the love of her life, a Mizzou student, John Howlett (Jack) Carson. They married in 1947 and began a partnership that lasted for 55 years until Jack’s death in 2002. Jack and Lou lived in Charleston and Sikeston Missouri; Germantown Tennessee, and Naples, Florida. Ultimately, Lou moved “across the alley” to Wilton Manors, Florida where she spent her golden years.
Lou was a lifelong member of P.E.O., a philanthropic organization, and worshipped with the community of First Presbyterian Church of Ft. Lauderdale. She was an actress and an artist, animal lover, and faithful Christian woman. She adored anything sweet – never turning away sugary treats - cake, chocolate, “Peeps” or a heaping cupful of powdered sugar on her French Toast! She leaves a legacy of sweetness built on the foundation of her personal faith, strong friendships, commitment to her family.
Louise is survived by her son, Jed Carson of Marietta, Georgia and daughter, Julie Carson (Robin) of Wilton Manors, Florida; grandchildren, Sarah Carson Shearer (Tyler) of Vinita, Oklahoma; Jak Carson of Wilton Manors, Florida and Asher Carson of Plano Texas; son-in-law Douglas McCafferty (Chris), also of Plano, Texas; several nieces, nephews and life-long family friends; her Shih Tsu, Emmy Lou, along with plenty of fur and feathered grandkids!
In addition to her parents, and husband Jack, Louise was preceded in death by a son, Jon Price Carson; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Wood Carson; grandson, James Aleksandrs Carson and brother, Dr. Richard Edwards.
Louise was cherished by many, and her presence will be deeply missed. Her lifetime of kindness, resilience, and love will continue to live on in all of us.
Our family is grateful for those special caregivers who saw to Mom’s wellbeing over the last several years - especially Effie, Maria, Maureen, and Jasmine.
May her memory be for a blessing to all who knew her.
