LUCILLE BARNWELL LAMBERT, age 96, formerly of Charleston and Sikeston, died Saturday, November 19, 2016, at the Hospice Ministries Hospital in Ridgeland, MS.
She was born April 9, 1920 in Cairo, IL to the Noel and Ruby Jones Barnwell who preceded her in death. A graduate of Charleston High School, she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Charleston and lived most of her life in the Charleston and Sikeston area until moving to Madison, MS in 1998. She and her husband, Rex Lambert, owned and operated Lambert Fabric Stores in Sikeston, Poplar Bluff, and Cape Girardeau until their retirement in 1987. In addition to being an exceptional business woman, Lucille was an extremely talented and artistic seamstress using French Hand Sewing techniques. She also expressed her talent as a painter who painted well using various mediums.
On May16, 1940 she married Rex Lambert who preceded her in death on September 10, 1992.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda Rex Lambert of Germantown, TN and Jane Ellen Brock of Ridgeland, MS; also four grandchildren, Elizabeth Cambra of Woodridge, VA, Charles Lambert Brock of Collierville, TN, Andrew Noel Brock of Madison, MS, and Rex Alexander Brock of Golden, CO; also three great grandchildren, Madison Claire Brock, Charles Davidson Brock, and Chandler Hobson Brock.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one infant granddaughter, and one brother, Ralph Barnwell.
Family and Friends will assemble for Graveside Services at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston. Her grandchildren will officiate.
Interment will follow with services under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Charles Lambert Brock, Andrew Noel Brock, Elizabeth Cambra, Rex Alexander Brock, Matthew Cambra and Charles Davidson Brock.
